Student Highlight: Jayne

Jayne is a three-year-old brindle bully mix who loves to fetch, be out in the sun and lay on her heating pad. She lives on a farm where fending off raccoons and chicken-watching is part of her daily life.

When I first met Jayne she was very territorial of her farm especially the house when strangers walked in she would become very aggressive towards them. Through some hard work and practice Dylan and Hawkin reigned in some of that aggression regarding protecting the home. 👀 By refocusing Jayne’s energy and attention on Dylan and Hawkin, they were able to build her confidence and trust and in doing so relayed the message: “Thanks for letting us know someone is here, now we got this and you can trust us to protect you rather than the other way around“.

Each owner and dog has their own journey, the process can sometimes be messy. It requires both pet and human to reframe how they look at each other and decide to put in the work together as a team. When that happens there is always success a dog will never be perfect but with some time and patience, the relationship between domesticated furball and human can bring clarity to what their needs are and what we expect in their behavior.

Thank you, Hawkin and Dylan, for trusting me with Jayne and her adventure!
